Forward into 2011

time is dangerous

Things I am looking forward to in 2011:

January 3-30 Big Dreams, Small Wonders E-Course taught by Louise Gale
This is starting on Monday! A wonderful way to start off this list since its focus will be planning for the new year and this year already holds so many things I am looking forward to.

January 8-9 Ben is taking an Avalanche Safety course in NH next week (his xmas gift) and I am going up Saturday for a night. Looking forward to staying at the Highland Center and spending more time snowshoeing and reading in front of a fireplace. Two of my (few) favorite things about winter. And desiring dinner at Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery.

January 18 Book Release: The Artful Bird by Abby Glassenberg
Found this on Amazon and it looks wonderful. Cute blog too.

January 31-March 4 Get Your Paint On taught by Mati Rose McDonough and Lisa Congdon
I need to register but I've been looking for a painting class to take, I love Mati's work, and it begins just as Louise's course ends so it's perfect! I met Mati at the first Squam Art Workshops. (So many other e-courses I wish I could take, but they are all at the same time! Ah! Not happening so I hope people offer them again.)

February 18 Book Release: Flavor for Mixed Media by Mary Beth Shaw
Took Mary Beth's class in 2009 at Squam Art Workshops and love her new line of stencils! Looking forward to her book.

February Vacation:  Possible international service project again...details tbd.

April Vacation:  Hopefully visiting the TerryNelsons in Tennessee to meet baby #2.

May 1 Book Release: Painted Pages by Sarah Ahearn Bellemare
The first treasury I ever made on Etsy was centered around peaches and featured a painting by Sarah. Then I met her and then she moved down the road from me and then she had the cutest baby and simultaneously wrote a fab book. So nice having her nearby! Can't wait to hold a copy of her book in my hands and have her encouragement at my fingertips.

May 3 Book Release: Kane Chronicles: Book 2 by Rick Riordan
Got to have my regular doses of teen fantasy! Loving these series...same author who wrote the Percy Jackson series.

May 30 Book Release: Plaster Studio by Stephanie Lee and Judy Wise
Judy has become a great teacher and inspiration to me. I have taken a class with her each year at Squam Art Workshops and will be visiting her in July (more on that below). I am very excited to see what Stephanie and she have cooked up to show us!

June 1 Book Release: Unfurling by Misty Mawn
Misty is the reason I started painting. I was inspired by her blog and went to Squam Art Workshops to take classes with her. What a world was opened up to me then! So excited about her first book!

June 3-5 The 5th International Encaustic Conference in Provincetown on Cape Cod
Although the I have not chosen my workshops yet, I know I will be soaking up as much as I possibly can in this short weekend! So much to learn, so much I don't know, but everything about wax feels like I was always meant to know it.

June 7 Book Release: Septimus Heap Book 6: Darke by Angie Sage
Not as good as Harry Potter of course but compelling and fun none-the-less.

June 12-19 IMAGE Glen East Workshops
Unfortunately this is the last week of school for me so I won't be able to fully immerse myself in it, but I am hoping to attend in the evenings...need to register still. Just thrilled they brought this to the east coast!

July 13-17 EncaustiCamp in Oregon
I signed up and boy am I excited! Three days of classes in wax and a west coast adventure. I am taking classes with Judy Wise (of course), Bridgette Guerzon Mills, and  Michelle Belto. Hoping to stop off for a visit to Colorado on the way home too.

July 15 Movie Release: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
The end of a masterpiece! Re-reading the book again. Loved part 1. Can't wait to see the finale.

August 3 Book Release: Circle of Fire (Prophesy of the Sisters, Book 3)
Remind me not to read any more series that haven't been finished...super annoying to keep all the incomplete details sorted in my mind until the next comes out!

September Squam Art Workshops
Year 4! Details coming out on Monday.

November 18 Movie Release: Breaking Dawn Part 1
I'm a sucker for Twilight despite the ridiculousness and this was my favorite book. I love perfect endings.

I am also fiercely holding onto the hope that 2011 will finally be the year for our trip to Europe. Ireland, England, France and hiking the Italian Dolomites are on the agenda. It will be nice for years of dreaming and planning to come to fruition.

And if biology cooperates with hope and longing, three of my closest friends will have bright, shiny new babies! Bursting with joy for them. I better put in an order for onesies.

So that's 2011 from where I stand at day one. Time to dive in! Happy 2011!
